Is there such a thing as having too many co-founders?

A lot of VCs say you shouldn't have more than two or three co-founders. But there are plenty of examples where companies have had numerous co-founders and somehow made it work.

Infosys, the largest IT services company in India, had seven co-founders. Ethereum has eight co-founders.

That being said... the more co-founders you have, the more stakeholders you have from the get-go. This makes it harder to move quickly. It takes time to agree on the right path forward when you’re dealing with so many people.

Co-founder breakups are one of the top reasons why an early-stage startup falls. So fewer co-founders reduce the risk of co-founder drama. At Hustle Fund, we've backed a lot of solo founders. There’s nobody to get into arguments with if you’re by yourself!

We’ve seen all kinds of co-founder arrangements. There’s no right or wrong answer here. But obviously, the more people you bring on your journey, the harder it can be.

People are hard.
